The Birmingham Crisis Centre

is a Charity which manages a safe haven for victims of domestic violence. The Centre comprises a purpose-built hostel accommodating up to 23 families, mothers and their children, in self-contained bed-sitting rooms each with a kitchen and bath room.

There are community facilities including a Residents’ Lounge, Children’s Playroom, Laundry and an outside play areas, including an all-weather games facility.

A 24 hour “Help Line” answers queries concerning domestic violence . This is a community service that the staff are particularly well suited..

The Board of Management, which includes a wide variety of talents in business the law and medicine and social care, works hard to ensure that the Centre is efficiently managed and that the best use is made of the limited funds available. We are all aware however that the success of the Centre depends on skills and dedication of the staff and volunteers.

The aims of the Centre are to provide security, empathy and empowerment for mothers and children who have suffered the trauma of physical, mental and sexual abuse, helping them to make a new life for themselves in the community.

A pre-school playgroup, and after school club are staffed by qualified family support workers and volunteers with sporting interests provide organised games sessions.
