John, our President and founder trustee was recognised in the New Year’s Honours list. The MBE is for his sterling work over 32yrs; not only founding the charity organisation, but continuing to work tirelessly to make us the largest refuge in Birmingham today.

John and his family will visit Buckingham Palace on 10th March 2010 to receive this well deserved recognition and honour. It is our honour to work with such a fine, honourable human being. John, we salute you!

An environment where residents can feel safe while with our help we can evaluate their positions and make plans for a better future...we promise to help “Herald a New Dawn”...

A Pre-School Play Group is a permanent feature of the Centre. This was started in 1989 when the Children’s Fund made a donation to fund for one year the salary of a part time Play Group Leader. An after school activities group is also operated.

There is a ‘Help Line’, which answers queries concerning domestic violence, a service for which the experience of staff is particularly well suited.

“Moving Forward!”

We have started a ‘moving forward’ project to help victims find newhomes and help with all matters associated with that major step…New Board member, trustee and past Lady Mayoress, Sandra Brew(pictured 2nd from right with other members of the Society), obtained a donation from the ‘Soroptomists International of Central Birmingham ‘ to start up the project.   The donation is part of a legacy left by late member Margaret Murray.
