Welcome to Birmingham Crisis Centre....

Mission Statement

Since 1984, Birmingham Crisis Centre has provided safe, confidential refuge and specialist support for women and children escaping domestic abuse. Through trauma-informed care, advocacy, counselling, and tailored family services, we empower survivors to rebuild their lives with safety, dignity, and independence.

Without your support we would not have a safe place to live for ourselves or our children”.

Sad Passing of John Ankorn MBE

On Sunday 5th March 2023, the Birmingham Crisis centre charity founder, past chairman and now our late president, sadly passed away after a prolonged illness. John Ankcorn MBE served the charity since 1984 and was instrumental in securing a contract with the local authority to provide a safe haven refuge centre for women and children victims of domestic abuse. John with his wife, Lyn, raised thousands of pounds over the years , forever increasing the charity profile and providing many friends and fundraisers.

His legacy is leaving a very secure and successful charity, building a bespoke Ofsted inspected onsite nursery which provides respite for the mothers and excellent educational activities for all the children from babies up to 16yrs of age. Pictured is John with his MBE for services to the City and charity.

Lord Mayor's Award

The staff of Birmingham Crisis Centre have been honoured by receiving the Lord Mayor of Birmingham’s Award for outstanding service to women.
